  • Music Ministry

Our Music Director, Alex Nguyen, conducts the St. John's Choir consisting of parishioners and professional musicians. The choir sings a range of music, from traditional hymns to African American Spirituals to Jazz to Country Music and everything in between. If you're interested in singing in our choir, contact Alex.

  • Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry is a huge component of life at St. John's. Our ministry is coordinated by Mrs. Chelsy Dehart, our Youth and Family Coordinator, and utilizes the StorymakersNYC curriculum. Prior to coming to St. John's, Chelsy served as the Director of Youth and Family at Calvary-St. George’s Church in Manhattan for 8 years, and the Lead Educator for StorymakersNYC for 2 years. She enjoys making sure the Good News of the Gospel meets our littlest ones right where they are, and working with kids and their families to help foster a connection to Christ through hands-on crafts that engage the imagination. If you have any questions about the Youth Ministry here at St. John's, email Chelsy.

  • Bible Study Group

Our long-standing Bible Study group meets at 6pm two Wednesday evenings per month from September to June at in the Guild Room or on the Patio at St. John's. Unlike traditional bible study groups that focus on whole books of the Bible, the Wednesday night Bible Study group may focus on the Psalm, Old Testament Reading, Epistle, or Gospel reading from the preceding Sunday, or agree to do a book study, or read and discuss the works by Meister Eckhart, Thomas Merton, Rowan Williams, John of the Cross, St. Francis of Assisi, and others. The discussions are informal and the group is as interested in building community as it is about learning together. All are welcome!

  • Summer Hangs

Each Summer from June through August, the St. John's Community meets outside on the church patio for a barbecue, a beverage, and good conversation. Summer Hangs are typically on the third Saturday of the month, weather-permitting. All are welcome! Contact Rev. Ben for more information.

  • Hiking Club

From May through September, St. John's organizes a Hiking Club that goes on a monthly hike to various places outside New York City, including Rockefeller State Park and Old Aqueduct Trail. Members carpool and/or take public transportation for a day of fellowship and community out in nature. Those interested in the Hiking Club should contact Rev. Ben.

  • Altar Guild

For anyone interested in helping to prepare the liturgical services at St. John's, opportunity exists with our Altar Guild. The Altar Guild sets up the altar flowers, liturgical vessels and instruments, and vestments throughout the liturgical year. Those interested in the Altar Guild should contact Rev. Ben.
